Antonimina Genealogy
Resources

These pages bring together genealogical information
to help people researching their family history and will be extended
as time and resources permit.
Initially the resources will be split into two sections.
The first section, a list
of all known emigrants from Antonimina, will help you trace your
family back to Antonimina from where your family moved to. This
list presently contains about 325
names but we hope to extend this list as more and more information
becomes available. The information on this list is as accurate as we
can make it but please bear in mind that the dates of birth and date
of emigration should be treated as approximate (+ - 2 years) and that
for women the name might be either their family name or their married
name.
The
second section, a list of family names
from the village, will help
you to trace possible family connections to the village as it
is today. Presently this list is not complete but we hope to complete
it
by the
end of 2007 and, once complete, we will keep it updated.
Maybe you still have relatives in Antonimina?
A microfilm version of the civil record of Births, Marriages, Deaths and Civil Events for the period 1809 - 1865 is available via your local Mormon church family research centre

All civil records from 1865 to today are available from the town hall via Consalvo, Antonimina, 89040 RC: Telephone +39 (0)964 312000.
We may be able to arrange for copies of birth, confirmation,
marriage and death certificates to be obtained from the public and
church records: Please contact us if you need help.
The photograph below should be a poignant reminder
of your family's past.
It is a photograph I took from the coastal town
of Locri,
the nearest rail and road link for those leaving Antonimina in search
of a new life. The direction of the view is looking back towards Antonimina
which is in the hills.
After a day's
walk
and
carrying
all
their belongings as they started on their long journey of emigration
to the USA,
Australia
or
elsewhere in Europe this evening view is probably the last view of Antonimina
that they would have had.

It must certainly have been a long hard walk for my
grandfather because, as you can see from his photograph below, his
luggage (including a double bass) must have been heavier than most
peoples!
